New Work by Jaime Lakatos

Featuring a video by Tara de la Garza

5 July– 3 August 2013

Aggregate Space Gallery is pleased to present this new collection of sculptural works by Oakland artist Jaime Lakatos.  Offering a series of odd artifacts from a future that doesn’t exist, Lakatos creates myth-based creatures one would expect to find in the diary of an explorer.  This obsessed future blends ideas of genetic mutation with unchecked scientific tampering, re-envisioning animals in the midst of a confused state of evolution.  Their charred surfaces and trophied heads offer a glimpse into the possible outcomes of our already accelerated environmental destruction.
