HYPNAGOGIC

15 June – 21 July 2012

MARYA KROGSTAD

featuring videos by

REBECCA PARKS-RAMAGE and JONATHAN SAJDA

…”hypnagogic” is a term coined by Alfred Maury for the transitional state between wakefulness and sleep (i.e. the onset of sleep).

Marya Krogstad exhibits ambitious room-sized installations that engage the viewer’s perception and participation.  With an oneiric sensibility, the works address notions of in-between dimensions, transience, and the encounter.

Rebecca Parks-Ramage reveals in her work a vision for the surreal as it is expressed in the everyday. In videos and photographs she communicates a lush and visceral world, laying bare the present moment in a way that is as alive as it is true.

Jonathan Sajda works from dreams and chance circumstances. He eschews traditional narrative forms, seeking out new mythologies steeped in the mystic and absurd.
